I absolutely loved this locked room murder mystery arc, definitely my cup of tea. I loved the cast of characters and I loved the conclusion. For me the story arcs just keep getting better and better. Sebastian is amazing as usual and I even think that Ciel is becoming less whiny (well a little at least). We're also starting to see a little more of the Phantomhive staff and they are all interesting in their own right. I look forward to continuing with the series and I'm excited to see what comes...more

Me gustó mucho el desarrollo de este volumen. Si bien ya lo había leído antes lo volví a leer para quedar bien metida en la trama y volver a agarrarle el ritmo a donde iba con este manga que ha sido sin duda de mis favoritos de siempre.

I am not sure if it is because I read it beforehand or what, but it was kind of obvious that Jeremy was Sebastian! First of all, he was very clever and cool. Secondly, the way Ciel looked at him was like 'So you are alive' kind of way, AND Jeremy teased Ciel the way only Sebastian does. And third, Jeremy has that aura of confidence and elegance only Sebastian has!

This was such a fun and interesting arc. I was going to give it a 3 but when Finny started talking about how grateful he is to Sebastian, I just had to give it another star!
Ms. Toboso is not only a talented author and illustrator, but she is well educated and well read. Imagine that from a manga!
She references Sherlock Holmes, classic cinema, and does so effortlessly.
I am most impressed and look forward to the next installment in this series.

本当に何でこのアークが描いたの？ストーリが全然進まない。2009と2010年の読者たちに可哀そうと思う。6か月待ってたけどこれだけ？！？！セバスチャンの事がバレバレだったしキャラがすぐ忘れる。唯一の面白いところは田中が柔道みたいな事をした時。それとランマオがシエルの服を着っていた時。それも面白かった。

#10 Black Butler series - Manga
The locked room murder mystery continues. It was just OK, but I wouldn't miss a single drawing or page.
So far I haven't mentioned the enjoyable touches of color to the character drawings on the left page, across from the inside cover. So much attention to the tiniest detail -- nothing escapes Yana Toboso.
I am also impressed with the wealth of information at the back of each book ('Translation Notes') and various other tidbits of information. I would love to know mo...more

Well that was a pleasant combination of manga and Agatha Christie. I really enjoyed the whole mystery trope and I'm a bit bummed to see that it's almost over. The fact that Sebastian's powers never played a role in the investigation made it more interesting as the characters were forced to rely on old-fashioned sleuthing. Also, the servants' devotion to Sebastian and Ciel was surprisingly heartfelt and touching.

I'm honestly glad I remember nothing of this arc from the anime. It makes everything so fresh and entertaining. Plus, anyone who doesn't think the star of this volume was Tanaka is wrong. Just saying.

Diesen Band fand ich ein bisschen langweilig und langatmig. Und leider auch vorhersehbar. Hm.
Oh man i can feel that a fun story is coming on soon with this one! I think this is probably one of my favorite volumes so far and the next one, I can tell, is going to be interesting.

Again, this book stuck very close to the animated series.
You can tell the creators pretty much learnt their lesson after the season two debarcle, and they stuck well at true to the storyline, with a few extra scenes for padding. For instance, when they searched for the key to Ciel's room on Sebastian, in the animation, there were a few extra bits. And, when Earl Grey went back to check on Sebastians body when he held his suspicions about him, in the anime he stomped on his face, but in the book...more

If you like murder mysteries and Clue, you'll enjoy this volume.
This volume reignited some of my enthusiasm for the series. I've been in a reading slump lately, but this mini-arc has gotten me excited again. Although somewhat cliche, in that it's based off Clue and the 'who-done-it' scenario, it was fun seeing Toboso's take on it.
Yes, I had kind of guessed what happened, but that didn't detract from the story. I actually think it is a testament to Toboso and how well she develops her charac...more

Well. That was not what I was expecting. These books certainly have some good twists in them. The ending certainly caused some raised eyebrows. If what happened happened then that means there is so much more that was going on then was originally shown. Hopefully the next volume will explain some of those loose threads because I'm just as confused as Mr. Wordsmith. I'm not a huge fan of mystery, but this was a nice arc... if it's done. Not quite sure yet. Stories great, artwork is great. Recommen...more

giving it 5 stars because of the cover. tanaka is my favourite character. and also that twist at the end, which i so did not see coming, but of course it makes a lot of sense. i picked up so many more hints now that i actually knew what happens at the end. it was nice. still not my favourite arc, but it's okay.
